Rim locks are available in different sizes and finishes and are fitted to the outside face of a door. There are different types of rim locks including rim latches and rim deadlocks but they are all fitted in the same way, which is screwed to the surface of the door. Rim locks are operated by rim knob furniture and can be locked with a key. Rim latches are operated by rim knob furniture and often have the option of slide latch to lock the door. Rim deadlocks are for locking the door by key only and are not used with rim furniture.
At Door Furniture Direct we stock brass rim locks and rim latches as well as brass rim door knobs to suit. The knobs are supplied with only one rose. The knob with the rose is fitted to the opposite side of the door to the lock and the knob without the rose fits up tight against the lock itself. We have a variety of brass rim knob styles including oval rim knobs, round rim knobs and reeded rim knobs.
If fitting a rim lock then you must ensure you use rim knob furniture, as regular mortice knobs will not work when used in conjunction with a rim lock.
