Front Door Locks

There are many different door lock types. For a wooden front door it is recommended that a door handle with lock conforming to BS3621 should be fitted. Door Furniture Direct supply sashlocks, deadlocks and nightlatches that are all BS3621 certified. Upvc door security is slightly different. It is recommended that door locks and handles fitted to Upvc doors have an overall 3 star rating. This could be achieved by fitting a 1 star cylinder and 2 star PAS 24 security handles which are stronger than standard handles and offer additional cylinder protection. There is also a rise in electronic door locks and smart door locks which allow the home owner to view and even record any visitors to their property using an app on their smart phone.

Patio Door Security

In addition to front door security, patio door security is another must have. Sliding patio doors require a sliding door lock, hinged patio doors are usually fitted with a euro cylinder but would benefit from an additional patio door security lock. There are many different door security locks for sliding patio doors including a patio door security bar which typically fits over French door handles for double patio door security. Another type is a key operated patio lock which is fitted to the top or bottom of the door for additional sliding patio door security.

Garage Door Security

Garages, sheds and out-houses will also benefit from fitting the appropriate door locks. Garage door mortice locks are readily available and nowadays there is a growing trend for fitting a digital door lock or code door lock. These types of door security locks can also be fitted to steel security doors and eliminate the need for keys.
