NeoDeco, in polished chrome
Lacquered emerald doors, marble chequerboard floors and curved furniture, with mirror-bright Art Deco levers on every door.
A new-build flat given the full NeoDeco treatment, the modern take on Art Deco glamour that's all over interiors right now. Doors are lacquered in high-gloss emerald and ink navy, the floor is black and white marble, and the furniture is all curves: a boucle sofa, a travertine table and a scalloped mirror. Polished chrome finishes it off like jewellery, with Tiffany levers on rose on the living room doors, matching stepped-plate handles on the bedroom and bathroom, and Deco pulls and knobs on the drinks cabinet and dressing table.

Getting the NeoDeco look right
Curves, stripes and shine
NeoDeco borrows the best of the 1930s - curved furniture, fluted glass, stepped shapes and strong contrast - and mixes it with modern comfort. Shine is important, so lacquered doors and polished metal do a lot of the work.
The Tiffany lever
The Tiffany lever has grooved steps where it meets the rose, a nod to the stepped lines of Deco buildings. In polished chrome it reflects lamp light beautifully against deep, glossy colours.
Carry it through
Use stepped-plate handles where a plate suits better, and finish furniture with matching Deco pulls and knobs so the look feels intentional rather than themed.
Planning notes
Rose or plate
Lever on rose suits flush and lacquered doors; stepped plates cover more of the door and suit panelled doors or old holes.
Bathroom
The Art Deco bathroom handles have a turn on the plate and need a bathroom mortice lock with matching centres.
Lacquer care
High-gloss doors show fingerprints near the handle, so a lever with good reach helps keep hands off the paint.
Mixing metals
Polished brass Tiffany levers in one room and chrome elsewhere can work if each room sticks to one metal.
