Soulful Sage doors and satin brass knurled levers
A calm 1930s family home drenched in Dulux's 2027 Colour of the Year, with the Connaught satin brass knurled lever on every door and the same knurled detail in the bathroom and kitchen.
One soft, greyed-off sage on walls, woodwork and doors, warmed by oak floors, linen and oatmeal textiles, with a golden honey accent in the main bedroom. Satin brass sits between cool nickel and heavy antique brass, and the knurling repeats on every handle, hook and ring.

Why Soulful Sage, and why satin brass
Where it comes from
Dulux named Soulful Sage, a natural, greyed-off green, its Colour of the Year 2027, and shows it wrapped around walls, ceiling and woodwork. Benjamin Moore and Behr also chose greens for 2027, so sage doors are firmly on trend.
Why satin brass?
Designers say sage needs warmth nearby from timber and brass. Satin brass sits in the middle: warmer than nickel, lighter than antique brass, and calm against a pale green. It works on every door without shouting.
Why knurled?
Knurling is one of the named hardware details for 2026: handles are becoming more tactile, with knurled sections you can feel. The Connaught lever, knob, Bari lever, Brunel hook and towel ring all share the same knurl, so the whole house matches.
Getting it right
One lever, three versions
Use the Connaught latch on passage doors, the lock version on a study, and the bathroom version with its thumb turn on the bathroom, so every backplate matches.
Knobs need a longer latch
If you choose Connaught knobs for the bedrooms, fit a 3in (76mm) latch so your knuckles clear the frame. The Bari knurled lever on a round rose is the alternative for glazed or narrow-stile doors, or anywhere you prefer a rose to a backplate.
Drench, then warm it up
Paint walls, skirting and doors in the same sage, then add warmth with oak floors, linen and a honey-coloured accent room.
Carry it through
Repeat the knurl in the bathroom with the Brunel towel ring and hook, and in the kitchen with Hoxton cabinet handles. Fit satin brass hinges to finish every door.
