A spa bathroom in satin nickel
Warm stone tiles, a freestanding bath and a walk-in shower, with soft satin nickel on the door, the shelf brackets and the robe hook.
A tired family bathroom turned into somewhere you actually want to linger. The owners swapped the over-bath shower for a walk-in one, put a freestanding bath in the middle of the room and tiled everything in a warm, stone-effect porcelain that feels like a hotel spa. Satin nickel keeps the metalwork quiet: a curved Sophia lever with a thumbturn on the door, a double hook for robes, and two bridge brackets holding an oak shelf over the bath.

Bringing the spa home
Warm, not clinical
Spa bathrooms work because they feel warm. Greige stone-effect tiles, pale oak and plants take the chill off a room that is all hard surfaces, and soft daylight through frosted glass does the rest.
Why satin nickel
Satin nickel has a brushed, slightly warm sheen that sits happily with stone colours. It hides water marks and fingerprints far better than polished chrome, which matters in a room that gets steamy every morning.
Somewhere to put things
A spa feel falls apart once bottles pile up on the bath edge. A deep oak shelf on solid brackets above the bath, and a double hook for robes on the door, keep surfaces clear without adding bulky cabinets.
Planning notes
Handle and lock together
Sophia bathroom handles have the thumbturn built into the backplate, so you need a bathroom mortice lock with matching centres to go with them.
En-suite doors
On a door with lever on rose handles, add a separate turn and release so you can still lock it and open it from outside in an emergency.
Bracket size
The 6x5in bridge bracket suits a shelf about 150mm deep, enough for candles, jars and folded flannels. Fix into studs or with heavy-duty plugs.
Protect the tiles
A wall-mounted cylinder stop on the skirting stops the door handle chipping the tiles behind it.
