This shield shaped design measures 30x57mm and would be fitted to protect the keyhole cut out in a door as well as preventing draughts and discouraging prying eyes. Fixing screws are included. An escutcheon is fitted to cover and protect a keyhole that has been cut into a door. This type is a covered escutcheon that is surface fixed using woodscrews. A covered escutcheon is fitted with a separate pivoted cover plate that conceals the keyhole, protecting from the weather if fitted externally or just to discourage prying eyes.
