If you are replacing existing door handles, check the current fitting before ordering. Backplate size, screw-hole positions, spindle size, keyhole position, bathroom turn position and door thickness can all affect whether a new handle will fit neatly. For uPVC and composite doors, measurements such as the PZ size, screw centres and backplate length are especially important because the handle must line up with the multipoint locking system.
Style and finish also make a big difference. Lever on rose handles are popular for modern interiors because they have a smaller, cleaner fixing plate. Door handles on backplate are often a practical choice for traditional interiors or replacement projects, especially where you need to cover marks left by older handles. Popular finishes include chrome, brass, black, bronze, nickel, stainless steel and antique-style finishes, with options to suit both modern and period properties.
Before ordering, consider what else you may need to complete the job. A standard internal door may need a tubular latch. A bathroom door may need a bathroom lock or turn and release.
