A keyhole escutcheon which has a pivoted cover. Also often referred to as key hole covers, a covered escutcheon is fitted to cover and protect a keyhole cut out in a door. The advantage of a covered escutcheon rather than a plain escutcheon is that the pivoted cover helps with privacy and provides some protection from draughts. They are available in many different designs and finishes so matching up to existing front door furniture is easy to do. Below are some images of covered escutcheons in various styles and finishes.
